|| (PARIS – March, 6, 2002) – Upaid, a pioneer of real-time software solutions for next-generation pay-as-you-use voice, data and payment services to mobile operators, service providers and financial institutions, today announced that Version 4.0 of the company’s industry-unique software platform, combining end-to-end applications and payment settlement functionality, supports prepaid roaming across CAMEL-enabled Intelligent Networks (IN) and traditional Service Node networks. Prepaid roaming across CAMEL-enabled IN that use differing phases of the CAMEL standard is another key feature of Upaid 4.0.
The Customized Application of Mobile Enhanced Logic (CAMEL) is a standard for GSM networks that enhances the provision of Intelligent Network services. Other solutions that support CAMEL to enable prepaid roaming across GSM networks require all participating operators to use the CAMEL standard. Upaid’s technical innovation gives operators who have not yet implemented CAMEL more flexibility to launch prepaid voice roaming services that meet their business needs while supporting the requirements of other GSM operators that have already deployed CAMEL in its various phases. With Upaid Version 4.0, mobile operators can launch innovative prepaid roaming services while integrating networks in different stages of technology.
Heinz Brasic, CEO of Upaid, commented on the advantages of Upaid’s prepaid roaming solution, Upaid™ OnTheMove, available with Upaid Version 4.0: “With the launch of Upaid 4.0, we have diversified the technology paths available to mobile operators seeking to launch prepaid voice roaming services. With this new functionality available, mobile operators can launch prepaid roaming services now with their existing infrastructure, benefit from new prepaid services, increase ARPU and choose their own path to CAMEL.”
Upaid™ OnTheMove is available directly from Upaid and through a number of companies around the globe enabling prepaid roaming on an ASP-basis. These include MACH of Luxemburg, the world’s largest data and clearing settlement house, and Xius Technologies of India, which is enabling prepaid wireless roaming for 80 percent of India’s wireless market.
